What to expect today?

Yesterday, Nifty rallied on hopes of financial aid and GST rate cuts to many sectors, especially housing and auto. HDFC and HDFC Bank were among the top contributors to the rally.

Even with this movement, Bank Nifty remained flat. This was mainly because ICICI Bank cancelled out HDFC Bank’s movements, by being the top-loser in Nifty 50. Click here to read all about yesterday’s movements.

Asian markets are trading mixed. European markets had all closed in the green. The US Federal Reserve(similar to India’s Reserve Bank) announced no change in repo rates. It also promised hundreds of billions worth of buying in the bond market. A stimulus package is said to be “highly likely”, according to government officials and Fed Chairman.

SGX Nifty is currently trading at 13,677.80, a bit down from yesterday’s close. This indicates we might see a slight gap-down opening today.

NIFTY is likely to trade between 13,520 and 13,780 today.
