1. HPCL and BPCL and 2 other firms fined Rs 286 crore for pollution

HPCL, BPCL, Aegis Logistics and Sea Lord Containers will have to pay Rs 286 crore in the next five years to improve the air quality in Mahul, Mumbai. This comes after the residents of this area filed a plea in 2014 against the installation of a unit barely metres away from their homes. Aegis Logistics will pay Rs 142 crore, HPCL Rs 76.5 crore, BPCL Rs 67.5 crore and Sea Lord Containers Rs 20 lakh.

2. Mahindra unveils new versions of its SUV

Indian auto major Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) unveiled the all-new version of its sports-utility-vehicle Thar. The model will be launched on 2nd October. This model has been designed in India and follows the BS-VI compliance for both petrol and diesel models. Most of the parts utilised in the vehicle have been sourced locally as well thus giving a boost to PM Narendra Modi’s Vocal for Local campaign.

After VIVO pulled out as the title sponsors for IPL in the wake of the Indo-China tensions, BCCI has been on the lookout for a replacement. Amid several names that came to light in the last week as probable contenders, it seems Tata Sons could be leading the race. The gorup has never had a history as cricket sponsors.

4. Price Waterfalls resigns as GVK Power and Infra Auditor

PW has resigned as the GVK Power & Infrastructure’s auditor. The auditor stated that the company failed to provide details which were sought from them. The firm also stated that it had written multiple times between July 6 and August 12 but the company has failed to respond every time.

5. United Breweries posts Q1 net loss of Rs 114.50

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 164.69 crore during the April-June quarter of the previous fiscal. Its revenue from operations slipped 73.17% to Rs 1,262.82 crore during the quarter under review, as against Rs 4,708.42 crore in the corresponding period previous financial year.UBL’s total expenses declined 68.21% to Rs 1,416.43 crore in Q1 FY21, compared to Rs 4,456.25 crore a year ago.

6. All Villages to be connected by Optical Fibre in the next 1000 days:PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced that the project to connect over six lakh villages with an optical fibre network will be completed in the next 1,000 days. Also, high-speed internet connectivity via submarine optical fibre cable will be extended to Lakshadweep in this period, he said. He had laid the foundation for 2,312-km Chennai to Andaman and Nicobar Islands (CANI) submarine optical fibre cable project on December 2018, which was formally inaugrated last week.

7. PM Modi announces launch of National Digital Health Mission, every Indian to get a health ID

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced the launch of the National Digital Health Mission. Under this, which every Indian will get a health ID that will store the individual’s medical records. In his Independence Day address, PM said the Mission will help reduce problems in getting treatment in various health facilities in the country. Every test, disease and diagnosis, and medical reports along with medicines will be stored in every citizen’s health ID. These health issues will be resolved through this National Digital Health Mission.

8. JSW forays into wind energy, wins 970 MW projects

JSW Energy marked its entry into the country’s wind power generation sector by winning 970 megawatt (MW) projects in the latest auction conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

The company currently has a power generation capacity of 4,559 MW comprising 3,158 MW thermal, 1,391 MW hydel and 10 MW of solar power plants. The company aims to reach 10,000 MW capacity in the next three-five years, which will be done mainly through renewables addition.

10. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Q1 net jumps two-fold to Rs 254 crore

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals on Friday posted an over two-fold increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 254.04 crore for the quarter ended June.
